Well last night I had one of my first ever games against Wood Elves. I was actually fairly worried about the sheer amount of Shooting they could put out. As things turned out I made out my armylist 15 minutes before the game and ended up taking ALOT of heavy infantry + slann.
I was very surprised to find that in the first magic phase I sucked up 3 Dispel Scrolls + 6 Dispel dice all with the Lore of Fire slann and support of one Priest (lore of heavens). This was very surprising as I havn't played lord level games in months. All I can say is wow - Woodies really don't have great options for magic defence. No +1 Dispel items, no ways to generate extra dispel dice cheaply.
It was a slaughter with the game a 1000+ point firmly in my favour. The lack of armor really hurts vs auto hitting magic spells. I have to thank Jeremy for being such a good sport. I honestly don't know if I could have lost so graciously - props to him for his sportsmanship.
I'm looking forward to the next game where I will be playing a bit more balanced (SKINKS!) lizzy army with all the funky units my blog is named after. If any wood elf players have any suggestions on recommended ways to cut down on Lizzy magic or ways to get more Magic defence I will be very interested to hear from you.
40K NEWS: Ongoing Finecast Issues

Yeah, was a bit unprepared for the amount of magic you dished out! Congrats on the win, you're the first to beat my WElves, something Brettonians, Orcs and Ogres have been unable to achieve so far! Like I said, I've been gaming for over 20 years so losing like that doesn't phase me. Have to admit, haven't been beaten that soundly in a while and it forced a rethink of strategy for my Elves - which is always good - avoids complacency! I've made up a list that is as magic maxed as Wood Elves can go. 11PD, 8DD - re-rollable. I'll give you another game the week after next, going to wipe the floor with some Orcs next week! ;)
ReplyDeleteHeh - that's insane :P
ReplyDeleteI want to play Len next time I come (hopefully week after next) but a rematch is definately in order. I've started building my new list and It's similiar to the first, but a little more mobile - lotsa skinks and terradons.
I could crank out 2 extra power and 1 dispel dicw, but then I would lose out on my beloved Alter Noble, and that's just unthinkable!
ReplyDeleteYep, I'm playing Lenny next week. Last time we played, I did to him what you did to me, except I only lost 3 Glade Riders doing so! :)
